Evaporitic brines and copper-sulphide ore genesis at Jbel Haïmer (Central Jebilet, Morocco)

نویسندگان

چکیده

The Jbel Haïmer copper-sulphide mineralisation occurs at 20 km north of Marrakesh in the Variscan Jebilet massif, Morocco. Most ores (up to 3.9 wt% Cu, ?38 ppm Ag, and up 2.9 Au) occur as impregnations NE-SW fault/fracture zones related tectonic breccia. Two independent stages fluid circulation mineral deposition are distinguished. First, Late high temperature-low pressure metamorphism synchronous granite intrusion induced percolation C–H-O-N hydrothermal fluids throughout faults shear zones. drop from lithostatic down hydrostatic values temperatures around 350 ± 50 °C triggered quartz precipitation associated with minor Sn-As-(Co-Ni) deposits finally brecciation. second stage, more recent than Triassic, consists + carbonates, followed by Cu-(Pb-Zn) sulphides (±Ag-Au alloys) fractures crosscutting 240 Ma microdiorite dikes. Mixing evaporitic brines likely coming Triassic formations low salinity aqueous was responsible for Cu-sulphide 220–280 a depth 4–5 km. These base metal-rich similar those nearby Roc Blanc Ag-deposit several other silver metal Morocco, considered having circulated during Central Atlantic Ocean opening.

Bacterial consortium for copper extraction from sulphide ore consisting mainly of chalcopyrite

The mining industry is looking forward for bacterial consortia for economic extraction of copper from low-grade ores. The main objective was to determine an optimal bacterial consortium from several bacterial strains to obtain copper from the leach of chalcopyrite. The major native bacterial species involved in the bioleaching of sulphide ore (Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans, Acidithiobacillus t...

A Novel Technique for Silver Extraction from Silver Sulphide Ore

A novel technique for silver extraction from Ag2S is described. The method utilizes thiosulphate as complexing reagent and the redox reaction between SO2 added as Na2SO3 powder and H2S gas evolved. The parameters of the reaction such as pH, the reaction temperature, the complex equilibrium of Ag ion with thiosulphate and the solubility of Ag2S were investigated. Silver ions, obtained by this me...

Hydrothermal Gold Mineralization and Some Features of Ore Mineral at Onzon-Kanbani Area, Central Myanmar

Onzon-Kanbani area is a western flank of Mogok Metamorphic Belt where gold mineralization is hosted as auriferous quartz-vein with epithermal low-sulphidation characters. Mineralization is closely associated with NE-SW trending fracture or shear zone probably related to the dextral movement of the Sagaing Fault system. Mineralization related hydrothermal alteration is developed as narrow zones ...

Assessment of Potential Health Hazards During Emission of Hydrogen Sulphide from the Mine Exploiting Copper Ore Deposit - Case Study.

AIM The aim of this study was to determine hydrogen sulphide concentration emitted from the mine extracting copper ore, to evaluate potential adverse health effects to the population living in four selected villages surrounding the exhaust shaft. MATERIALS Maximum measured concentration of hydrogen sulphide in the emitter is 286 µg/m³. Maximum emission calculated from the results of determina...
